It is with incredible sorrow that I share the following news with you. Our daughter, Ada MaryJo Bodnar, has passed away.

On Friday, a day short of 23 weeks, Brandon and I learned that Ada had died. We went into the hospital on Saturday night to be induced for delivery. Late Sunday night, on June 30th 2013, shortly before midnight, Ada was born at peace. We were given the blessing of holding her, if only for a short time.

I am safe, and we are at home now. It will still be some weeks before we learn what happened to Ada, and there is a possibility that we will never know. There were no signs or symptoms, it was very sudden.

We are thankful for the love and support of our family and friends.

The hospital used images of butterflies to indicate which families were experiencing such a loss, so we wouldn’t have to keep explaining to people. Ada will never have a chance to come out of her cocoon, but she was beautiful to us and we will never forget her.
